The Dark Forest part 9

Morax knew he had no chance of stopping the bitch, and she was growing even more powerful draining Aether of his life force. Bad idea or not, he figured if he could at least stop her from draining Aether of his life force... without much more thought, he thrust his dagger into Aether, the gem in the center of the dagger began to glow, and it was then that he learned the true purpose of this weapon.

Sucking all of the life force and genetic information out of Aether all at once, Morax was suddenly filled with power and knowledge, moreso than when the shadow cast his light upon him. The mysteries of the universe became unlocked, and Morax, for that moment, became a god. He slapped that bitch out of existence without even breaking a sweat. Filled with the infinite knowledge of the universe, but Morax could do nothing but weep for his dead friend. Instead of mourning for too long, he had a crazy idea. If he could use the blade to devour souls, maybe he could use that same power to restore his friend. He thrust the bodkin deep into him. The gem glowed as it did before, Morax became as he was, and Aether awoke.

Although Aether was awakened, he was still dead in some respects, and he could now see clearly the spirits of the dead that surrounded them. Aether screamed in horror. "What the fuck is going on!?!?" "I still have no idea, sorry that was the only move that I had." They argued for a bit, but then they eventually turned to the sword. Morax had no luck pulling the sword out, but as soon as Aether touched it, a bright glow enveloped them. Aether emerged as a demigod, his powers from all of his past lives had transferred unto him, and he was filled with all of their will and knowledge.

Morax fell back in awe, his friend was now a being beyond his previous comprehensions. Aether finally spoke. "We've got to stop whatever force is at work here, before they do to much damage to our world." "What?" Morax asked, barely able to speak. "We're going to their fortress, and we're going to destroy them all."
